Stocks open week up on large-cap vibe

DHAKA, Jan 20, 2019 (BSS) – Stocks opened week up with all indices of both
Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges were found rising trend on higher
activities of some large-cap securities.

The rising major sectors were insurance, financial institutions and cement.
A total of 155 securities of the large-cap group moved up on higher
activities.

The broader DSEX index of the DSE closed the session with 61.70 points up
at 5,887.28. The Shariah DSES and the blue-chip DS30 also followed the same
trend with 9.06 points up at 1,318.86 and with 20.41 points up at 2,029.90
respectively.

The volume of shares rose to 29.74 crore from Thursday’s 28.76 crore
shares. But, the daily turnover in value at DSE decreased to Taka 968.91
crore from Thursday’s Taka 1,011.57 crore.

At the DSE, price of 193 securities out of the day’s 346 traded issues
closed higher against 133 losing issues.

The major gaining issues were 1JANATAMF, Sonar Bangla Insurance, United
Insurance, DBH and MI Cement. The major losing issues were Imam Button, Savar
EFR, Prime Insurance, JMISMDL and Paramount.

Beximco topped the turnover leaders followed by Premier Bank, JMISMDL,
United Finance and Lanka Bangla Finance.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with upward
trend with its major CASPI 207.31 points up at 18,065.69.

At the CSE, 283 issues were traded. Of those, 162 closed higher and 104
closed lower while 2.32 crore shares worth Taka 51.55 crore changed hands.
