Govt. to work for fulfilling people’s expectations: Speaker
RANGPUR, Jan 17, 2019 (BSS) – Jatiya Sangshad Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin
Chaudhury, MP, has said the present government under the leadership of Prime
Minister Sheikh Hasina will work for fulfilling the hopes and aspirations of
the people.
“We want to begin our works right now for further development of Pirganj
upazila,” she said at a post-election views-exchange meeting on local
development issues at upazila parisahd auditorium in Pirganj town here on
Wednesday night as the chief guest.
Presided over by Pirganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer TMA Momin, all union
Chairmen and Members from the general and reserved wards of all 15 union
parishads in Pirganj upazila attended the meeting.
In the beginning, local union Chairmen and Members warmly greeted the
Speaker with wreaths on her election as the Member of Parliament (MP) from
Rangpur-6 (Pirganj) constituency with a huge margin of votes in the 11th
parliamentary election.
Taking part in the open discussion, the local public representatives
presented the prevailing prospects and problems for development and work
plans for implementing various uplifts in their respective areas of Pirganj
upazila.
In reply, the Speaker assured the local public representatives of adopting
appropriate action plans and taking necessary steps for implementing those to
ensure overall development of Pirganj upazila as a whole.
“Without wasting any time, we want to prepare overall action plans according
to development diagrams of you (local public representatives) to implement
those for reaching development at the grassroots levels across the upazila,”
Dr Shirin said.
Chairman of Pirganj upazila parishad Noor Mohammad Mandal, General
Secretary of Pirganj upazila Awami League (AL) and Pirganj municipal Mayor
Tazimul Islam Shamim, cultural affairs secretary of Rangpur district AL
Saidul Islam Pintu, Pirganj upazila Vice-chairman Monayem Sarkar Manu, local
Jubo League leader Mazharul Alam Milan, among others, spoke.
