Oikya Front’s demand of re-election unconstitutional: Anisul

DHAKA, Jan 15, 2019 (BSS) – Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs
Minister Anisul Huq today said demand of re-election raised by Jatiya Oikya
Front is unconstitutional and disrespectful towards the opinion given by
people of the country.

“Oikya Front’s demand of re-election is not constitutional at all and very
much illogical. People have given their opinion and Oikya Front has no rights
whatsoever to disrespect that,” he said.

The minister came up with the opinion while talking to newsmen after
attending the reception of outgoing Director of National Legal Aid Services
Organisation (NLASO) Md Zafrul Hasan at its Bailey Road office.

While replying a question regarding the recent statement made by Hefajat-
e-Islam Ameer Allama Shah Ahmad Shafi on women education, Law Minister Anisul
Huq said it is completely his (Shafi) personal opinion.

“He is an elderly person. With due respect, I want to tell him that his
comments go against the development being made in Bangladesh. I think it will
be better if he withdraws his comment. In spite of this, such comments will
not make any change in the state policy or the way of governing the country.
We are committed towards establishing women rights and we will further
strengthen it,” Anisul said.

The minister stressed on reaching the legal aid to all the people of the
country, saying, NLASO will have no value unless it can do this.

“We will soon fill up the vacant posts of legal aid officers under NLASO
and also strengthen the publicity campaign. We will give priority to TV for
publicity campaign,” he added.

Presided over by NLASO acting director Bikash Kumar Saha, the ceremony was
also addressed by Law and Justice Division Secretary Abu Saleh Sheikh Md
Zahirul Haque and joint secretary Golam Sarwar.
