GO-NGO concerted effort needed to ensure birth registration

RAJSHAHI, Jan 15, 2019 (BSS)- Administrative officials at a meeting
unanimously mentioned collective efforts of all government and non-government
organisations concerned has become crucial to make the online birth
registration process a total success.

They viewed showing birth registration certificates have been made
mandatory in all important official activities to ensure different rights of
children. So, there is no way but to make the registration successful.

They were addressing a quarterly task-force committee meeting of Rajshahi
Divisional Birth Registration at the conference hall of Divisional
Commissioner (DC) today.

Chaired by Divisional Commissioner Nur-Ur-Rahman, the meeting was
addressed, among others, by Divisional Director of Department of Family
Planning Shafiqul Islam, Divisional Director of Department of Health Services
Dr Gopendra Nath Acharya, Superintendent of Police Abdus Salam and Deputy
Director of Local Government Parvej Raihan.

The meeting highlighted that hundred percent birth registration and its
effective application can be the vital means of preventing child marriage.
So, community people including health and family planning staff and teachers
should work together.

Highest importance should be given on brining the marriage registrars and
public representatives under need-based training so that they can play vital
role to resist child marriage as a whole.
