DHAKA, Jan 14, 2019 (BSS) – Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid
Maleque today urged health officials to serve their patients shunning
corruption and nepotism.
“As per the direction of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the government is
working relentlessly to develop the healthcare services avoiding corruption
and nepotism. You all should follow this. We will give priority to strengthen
monitoring system to develop the healthcare facilities across the country,”
he said.
Zahid Maleque came up with the observations while addressing a view-
exchange meeting with doctors, nurses and other officials and staffs of
Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College (SSMC) in the capital.
The minister also gave directives to the doctors and nurses to remain
alert so that no patient faces any adversity after coming to any hospitals.
“You all have to keep one thing in mind that people come to hospitals, go
to doctors, only when they are at risk. You have to ensure healthcare
services to them with smile on your faces,” he added.
Later, the minister visited National Institute of Kidney Diseases &
Urology (NIKDU) and National Institute of Traumatology & Orthopaedic
Rehabilitation (NITOR) and visited different words of the hospitals and
talked to the patients and inquired about their health.
During the visit, the minister was apprised of health services being
provided to the patients at the hospital.
While addressing doctors at NITOR, the health minister asked them to
maintain a clean image like their white apron. He also emphasized on
maintaining cleanliness at health facilities.
“We have to fulfill all the commitments made in the election manifesto
regarding the healthcare,” Zahid Maleque further said.
State Minister for Health Md Murad Hasan and Director General of
Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Prof Dr Abul Kalam Azad were
present on the occasion, among others.
