Zahid for strengthening monitoring cells in health sector

DHAKA, Jan 13, 2019 (BSS) – Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque today made it clear that the monitoring cells in the health sector would be strengthened across the country to further improve the standard of healthcare.

“I would give priority to transparency and accountability in the health sector….The monitoring cells would be made stronger to improve the standard the healthcare facilities in the country,” he said.

Maleque said this while talking to Bangladesh Health Reporters’ Forum (BHRF) members who went to greet him as the health minister at the conference room of the ministry.

“We have sufficient infrastructures, machineries but due to lack of proper monitoring system the sector suffers a lot…The job of the cells would be to find out the problems and lacking of this sector to help solve the problems,” he said.

The new health minister said, apart from taking initiatives for setting up a cancer hospital at each division, a 10-bed kidney unit will be set up at all medical college hospitals and district sadar hospitals.

Zahid also emphasized on bringing transparency in procurement system.

NHRF President Towfiq Maruf, General Secretary Nikhil Mankin, Vice-President Nurul Islam Hasib and members Jannatul Bakia Keka, Dilara Hossain and Barun Kumer Das were present, among others.
