VITAMIN A-PLUS-CAMPAIGN
Call to make vitamin A plus campaign successful
KHULNA, Jan 13, 2018(BSS) – Speakers at a divisional level inception and
planning meeting here today underscored the need for making the National
Vitamin A plus Campaign 2019 scheduled to be observed on January 19 a
success.
Department of Health in Khulna division organised the programme, to devise
ways and means on how to make the campaign a success.
Additional Divisional Commissioner (General) Md Faruk Hossain addressed the
meeting as the chief guest while Director of the Department of Health in
Khulna Division Dr Shushanta Kumar Roy chaired the meeting.
Among others, Director and Deputy Director of Family Planning Division of
Khulna Shariful Islam and Principal of Khulna Medical College Dr Md Abdul
Ahad spoke on the occasion.
The chief guest said the main goal of the campaign is to maintain the
prevalence of night blindness in children less than one percent through
maintaining the high coverage of vitamin A supplementation among under five-
year-old children.
The meeting was told that a total of 16, 39,802 babies aged under 12-59
months will be administered red colour vitamin A capsule in Khulna division.
Meanwhile, a total of 2, 86,617 babies under 6-11 months will be
administered blue colour capsule in Khulna division.
