300 cold-hit people get blankets in Rajshahi
RAJSHAHI, Jan 12, 2019 (BSS)- More than 300 poor and distressed cold-
stricken people were given blankets for lessening their sufferings caused by
the present sweeping cold wave in the city.
Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) donated and distributed the
blankets at its school premises in Hetemkha area yesterday.
BDRCS City unit Vice-President Rejaul Karim, General Secretary Prof
Chowdhury Sarwar Jahan and Executive Members Prof Nurul Hossain Chowdhury,
Prof Farida Sultana, Prof Abdus Salam, Dr Masudul Haque and Advocate Jamshed
Ali were present on the occasion.
Speakers said the BDRCS will extend more cooperation towards the
distressed and needy people in the days ahead.
They urged all other humanitarian and volunteer organisations including
public and private sectors, banks and other financial establishments to stand
beside the cold-hit people to lessen their sufferings during the cold
weather.
