JOTE-ASHRAF-MEETING
Memorial meeting on Syed Ashraf tomorrow
DHAKA, Jen 10, 2019 (BSS) – A memorial meeting on former General Secretary
of Awami League and former Public Administration Minister Syed Ashraful Islam
will be held at the Central Shaheed Minar in the city tomorrow.
Sammilita Sangskritik Jote (SSJ) is going to arrange the meeting at 4 pm
to pay respect to Syed Ashraful Islam, a press release said.
SSJ President Golam Quddus will preside over the meeting while politicians
and cultural personalities, among others, will be present.
On January 3 last, Syed Ashraf died at a hospital in Bangkok at the age of
68.
The AL leader had long been suffering from lung cancer.
Syed Ashraf was born in Mymensingh in 1952. His father Syed Nazrul Islam
was acting President of Mujibnagar Government in 1971 and one of the key
figures of Bangladesh’s independence struggle.
