RAB detains 7 over cyber crime charges
DHAKA, Jan 10, 2018 (BSS) – Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in separate
raids arrested seven persons from different parts of the country for their
suspected link to cyber crime on Tuesday and Wednesday.
“We arrested seven people Md Rabiul Islam,42, Md Akhlakuzzaman
Ansari,43, Tofazzal Hossain Helal, 40, Tanvir Hasan Mohon,22, Md Yusuf,30,
Abu Raihan AL Biruni Pukin,43, and Md Abul Kalam,34, from Uttara, Rajshahi,
Chattagram, Madaripur, Cumilla, Bogra and Kishoreganj, for their involvement
in cyber crime,” said a RAB official.
Different battalions of RAB arrested the seven in separate raids
conducted from 4 pm on January 8 to 7 pm on January 9, he added.
The arrestees have been accused of spreading rumour on social networking
sites using distorted pictures of premier, cabinet members, chief election
commissioner, chiefs of army, police RAB and Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP),
he added.
RAB personnel have so far arrested 192 people for their involvement in
cyber crimes.
Legal actions have been taken to this respect.
