Modhunaghat Water Supply Project to be inaugurated this
month

CHATTOGRAM, Jan 9, 2019 (BSS- Chattogram Water Supply and
Sewerage Authority (CWASA) has completed all preparations to
inaugurate its Taka 1,890 crore Modhunaghat Water Supply
Project by this month.

The Modhunaghat water supply project which went for
experimental production in November last year is now
supplying nine crore liters of water in the city per day.

The project as part of Chattogram water supply
improvement and sanitation project has been implemented
through setting up a refinery for purification of Halda water
at Modhunaghat of Hathazari and installation of 135 Kilometer
transmission and distribution pipe line.

Ariful Islam, Deputy Director of the project said
Modhunaghat water supply project, implemented under jointly
funded by World Bank, Government of Bangladesh and CWASA.

“At present, the project is supplying water
uninterruptedly in Mohora, Chandgoan, Bakalia, Kalamia Bazar,
Rahattarpool, Kolpolok residential area, Khaza road,
Khatungonj, DC road, Sirajowdullah road and Patenga areas,”
Arif said.

Managing Director of CWASA Engineer AKM Fazlullah said
formal proposal for naming the project after Sheikh Rasel,
the youngest son of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman has
been sent to the ministry.

“Formal letter to inaugurate the project by Prime
Minister Sheikh Hasina has already been sent and I hope the
project is likely to be inaugurated by the current month,”
CWASA MD said.
