DHAKA, Jan 9, 2019 (BSS) – The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) today conducted a follow-up drive at Dhaka Central Jail aimed to check corruption and bring discipline there.

“If necessary, the Commission will carry out probes into assets of the corrupt elements of the jail,” said ACC director general (admin) Mohammad Munir Chowdhury.

The Commission in today’s drive found a comparatively improved situation in the jail as the real ill prisoners have replaced the ‘fake ones’ in the jail’s hospital, ACC deputy director and spokesman Pranab Kumar Bhattacharjee told BSS.

The ACC also found that television, freeze, refrigerator, and oven, which were earlier installed in hospital rooms of jail, were removed from there, he said, adding that convicted Abdus Sattar, Bashirul Islam Bidyut and Ali Babu were shifted to Kashimpur Central Hospital.

The national anti-graft agency asked the jail authorities to take necessary measures to check corruption and restore discipline in Dhaka Central Jail.
