Secretariat wears festive mood as cabinet members assume offices

DHAKA, Jan 8, 2019 (BSS) – The secretariat, administrative headquarters of the government, today wore a festive mood as most of the members of the newly formed cabinet assumed their offices.

Some of new cabinet members, whose offices are out the secretariat, also assumed office today.

In the very first day, they introduced with the officials and employees of their respective ministries and enquired about the activities of ministry.

Secretaries of respective ministries, other officials and employees welcomed the new ministers, state ministers and deputy ministers with bouquet of flowers.

A day after taking oath, Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque, Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, Agriculture Minister Md Abdur Razzak, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan, Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud, Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Haque,

Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal, LGRD and Cooperatives Minister Md Tajul Islam, Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni, Foreign Affairs Minister AK Abdul Momen, Planning Minister MA Mannan, Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun, Textiles and Jute Minister Golam Dastagir Gazi, Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque,

Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder, Housing and Public Works Minister SM Rezaul Karim, Environment and Forests Minister Md Shahab Uddin, CHT Affairs Minister Bir Bahadur Ushwe Sing, Land Minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury, Railways Minister Md Nurul Islam Sujon and Posts, Telecommunication and Information Technology Minister Mostafa Jabbar assumed their respective office.

State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid, State Minister for Health and Family Welfare Md Murad Hasan, State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md Shahriar Alam, State Minister for ICT Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak, State Minister for LGRD and Cooperatives Swapan Bhattacharya,

State Minister for Industries Kamal Ahmed Majumder, State Minister for Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment Imran Ahmed, State Minister for Youth and Sports Zahid Ahsan Russell, State Minister for Labour and Employment Begum Munnujan Sufian, State Minister for Public Administration Farhad Hossain, State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief Dr Md Enamur Rahman and State Minister for Religious Affairs Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah, Deputy Minister for Education Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Noufel also assumed their respective offices in the very first day.

Talking to reporters, Road Transport and Bridges Minister and Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader said the government would continue its zero tolerance policy against corruption, abuse of drugs and militancy.

Other ministers also expressed their optimism that they would try their level best to give their best efforts to take ahead the country.
