Food Minister pledges to work for food security

DHAKA, Jan 7, 2018 (BSS) – Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder today
pledged to work for ensuring food security and safe food for the people as
per the instruction of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

“Prime Minister has given me the major responsibility of the ministry to
make the country self-sufficiency in food,” said the newly appointed food
minister in a sudden reaction with the BSS.

Highlighting the importance of safe food in the election manifesto of the
ruling Awami League, the food minister said, “We will work as per the
instruction of the Prime Minister aiming to ensure the food security and safe
food of the people.”

Even the food minister also has sought cooperation from all quarters to
maintain the continuity of development and progress of the outgoing
government.

Valiant freedom fighter Sadhan Chandra Majumder, lawmaker of Naogaon-1
constituency, took oath today as the Food Minister in the cabinet of 11th
national parliament.

President M Abdul Hamid administered the oath-taking ceremony at Darbar
Hall of Bangabhaban here at 3.30 pm, said an official release.

Sadhan Chandra Majumder was born at Hajinagar village of Niamatpur upazila
in Naogaon district on July 17, 1950.

He has four daughters.

Sadhan has been elected parliament member (MP) for the third consecutive
term and is also serving as the Awami League general secretary of the Naogaon
district unit.
