DHAKA, Jan 7, 2019 (BSS) – A Doa and Milad Mahfil seeking eternal peace of the departed soul of Awami League Presidium member and former General Secretary Syed Ashraful Islam was held today at Bangladesh Secretariat Central Mosque.
Ministry of Public Administration organised the programme for its former minister, where Senior Pesh Imam of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque conducted the prayers.
Additional secretary to the Ministry of Public Administration Md Rakib Hossain, Secretary to Ministry of Religious Affairs Md Anisur Rahman, Information Secretary Abdul Malek, deceased’s brothers Syed Manjurul Islam and Syed Ashfakul Islam spoke on the occasion, among others.
Senior officials and staff of the different ministries took part in the prayers.
Another doa mahfil is scheduled to be held tomorrow at 5 pm at his official residence at 21 Baily Road in the city.
Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader has requested all concerned to attend the function in time.
Syed Ashraful Islam, 68, died at a hospital in Thailand on January 3. He had been suffering from lung cancer.
