BSTI fines Tk 56,500 in Rajshahi, Rangpur

RAJSHAHI, Jan 7, 2019 (BSS)- Bangladesh Standards and Testing
Institution (BSTI) has penalised 18 shops Taka 56,500 in Rajshahi and Rangpur
divisions in December last year for selling and manufacturing adulterated
food items.

Eight mobile courts of the BSTI Rajshahi regional office in association
with local administration conducted drives in different parts of the two
divisions and found the shops selling substandard food items, violating the
rules and regulations.

The courts also realised Taka 56,500 from the shop owners during the
drives conducted in four districts under the divisions.

BSTI Director (Rajshahi) Taher Jamil said the regional office conducted
the drives against the shops involved in manufacturing substandard and
adulterated food items.

The BSTI regional office also conducted 21 surveillance drives for
prevention of pilferage in weight and measurement and formalin use in fruit
and fish.
