Nasir for standing beside AL govt to continue dev

CHATTOGRAM, Jan 6, 2018 (BSS) – City Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin called upon
journalists to stand beside the Awami League led government for continuing
economic growth and progress of the country.

“The government has taken various programmes to turn Bangladesh into a
middle-income country by 2021 and a developed country by 2041,” he said.

The city mayor said this while delivering speech at a reception arranged
by Chattogram

Journalists Housing Co-operative Society (CJHCS) at Engineer Khaled
Auditorium of Chattogram Press club this afternoon.

CJHCS conveyed reception to City Mayor and President of Nasirabad Housing
Society for achieving an award as a successful cooperative organiser.

Outlining the importance of media to strengthen democracy, Nasir said the
present government does not interfere in media and thus, the media in country
are carrying out their duty independently.

He also sought cooperation of journalists for highlighting the ongoing
development activities of the city corporation.

CJHCS President Swpan Mollick presided over the programme addressed, among
others, by Ali Abbas, former president of CPC, Samir Kanti Barua, vice
President of CJHCS, Mohammad Shahjahan, general secretary of Nasirabad
Housing Society, Hasan Ferdouse, general secretary of CJHCS, and Anjon Kumar
Sen, journalist leader.
