Country averts disaster through boat’s victory: Menon

DHAKA, Jan 2, 2019 (BSS) – Social Welfare Minister Rashed Khan Menon today said the country managed to avert a big disaster through the victory of ‘boat’ in the recently-held 11th parliamentary election.

“If the grand alliance had lost, it would have been a big disaster for the country. BNP, under the shadow of brainless Jatiya Oikyafront, would have taken the country many years back. This country would have turned into the safe haven for terrorists, extortionists and militants,” he said.

The minister said these while addressing a meeting with the leaders of Dhaka University Officers’ Association at his Minto Road official residence.

“This victory is not the outcome of any stray incident; it is the result of hard work and development carried out by the government in the last 10 years. People not only were very pleased by the gradual development activities, but also expressed their wish through the ballots,” Menon added.

Presided over by Dhaka University Officers’ Association president Syed Ali Akbar, the meeting was also addressed by its general secretary Musa Chowdhury, Mozammel Haque, Mahabub Sarker, Sarwar Hossain and Jahangir Alam, among others.
