3,000 cold-stricken poor people get blanket in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, Jan 2, 2019 (BSS) – More than 3,000 cold-stricken poor and
distressed people were given blankets for lessening their sufferings caused
by the present sweeping cold wave.

State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam, MP, distributed the
warm clothes at different areas including Bajubagha, Arani and Baosha under
Bagha Upazila in the district with his own initiative yesterday.

Speaking on the occasion, he expressed his gratitude to the people for
reelecting him in the parliamentary election on Sunday last.

Shahriar Alam, who wins in Rajshahi-6 (Bagha-Charghat) constituency for
the third consecutive time, also expressed his determination for welfare of
the public in general in the years to come.

He said Bangladesh Awami League under the dynamic leadership of Prime
Minister Sheikh Hasina always believes in politics of development and welfare
of the people.

Mr Alam said people of the country wanted to see continuation of the
ongoing development to build a happy and prosperous country. So, the Awami
League-led grand alliance got a landslide victory in the election.

“People of the country are leading a happy life as the present
government has implemented various programmes for building an economically
advanced country,” he added.

The state minister said Awami League is the only party which represents
the people of Bangladesh. The party has brought nation’s independence through
a long struggle led by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur
Rahman. The party will also bring economic emancipation of the people, he
added.

Alam said Bangladesh witnesses real development when Awami League comes
to power. Over the last ten years, the government has pulled over five crore
people out of extreme poverty, making the country a role model of development
abroad.
