DHAKA, Jan 8, 2018 (BSS) – Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader yesterday expressed his optimism that the defeat of malevolent communal forces to non-communal forces is inevitable in the next general election.

“It is true that we defeated Pakistani occupation forces in the bloodstained Liberation War in 1971. But Pakistani collaborators (Rajakars) are still spreading communal hatred on the soil of Bangladesh,” he said.

He was addressing a discussion marking the photo-exhibition on ‘anarchy and arson terrorism of BNP-Jamaat’ in the Shilpakala Academy auditorium. Awami League (AL) Publicity and Publication Sub-Committee organized the exhibition.

Sub Committee’s Chairman and AL Advisory Council Member HT Imam chaired the function while AL Publicity and Publication Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud, Deputy Publicity Secretary Aminul Islam, Deputy Office Secretary Biplab Barua, Dhaka City South unit of AL President Shahe Alam Murad and Central Working Committee member Advocate Riazul Kabir Kawser, among others, spoke at the discussion.

During the discussion, injured people and family members of the victims in the attacks of BNP-Jamaat narrated their pains and agonies. They could not control their emotion while describing their sufferings. Financial assistances from AL were handed over to the victims on the occasion.

Quader, also minister for road transport and bridges, said the countrymen would never support BNP-Jamaat as they carried out arson attacks and killed innocent people in a Pakistani strategy with a view to thwarting the January 5, 2014 election and ousting the government.

“The attacks carried out by BNP-Jamaat remind us the dreadful scenarios and ruins unleashed by Pakistani occupation forces during the 1971 Liberation War,” he added.

He said 2018 would be the year for defeat for BNP-Jamaat.

The AL general secretary said the people of the country have only hatred for those who killed innocent human beings in arson attacks.

“How can those who burnt humanity now seek votes from people? People will never cast their votes in favour of them,” he observed.

The minister said BNP-Jamaat is cheating with the countrymen wearing the mask of democracy.

He said the mask of BNP-Jamaat should be exposed before the people by showing the photographs of arson attacks and sabotage unleashed by them.

Speaking on the occasion, HT Imam underscored the need for displaying the photos of BNP-Jamaat’s anarchy, arson terrorism, petrol-bomb attacks like those of August 21 grenade attacks. If the people see the photographs of sabotage carried out by BNP-Jamaat, they will never cast their votes for BNP-Jamaat, he added.
