Army detains 2 UPDF men with ammunition
DHAKA, Jan 1, 2019 (BSS) – Members of Bangladesh Army today arrested two
activists of United People’s Democratic Front (UPDF) with illegal arms and
ammunition from Lakshmichhari area under Khagrachari district.
The detained are Shumanto Chakma, 20, son of Bijoy Kumer Chakma and
Dipankar Chakma, 22, son of Radimohan Chakma from Rainnamachara under
Lakshmichhari upazila.
A team of Guimara Military Camp detained them from Rainnamachara area
around 4 am, said an ISPR press release here today.
They also seized a USA-made assault rifle ‘Cal 5.56 mm M4AI carbine’, a
magazine, 53 rounds of bullet, a machete and mobile phones from their
possession.
After the primary interrogation, they confessed that they are UNDF
(Prashit) members.
The detainees were handed over to Lakshmichhari Police and filing of a
case is underway, the release added.
