Presumed JMB militant arrested in Patgram
RANGPUR, Jan 01, 2019 (BSS) – Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-13 arrested a
presumed operative of banned militant outfit Jama’atul Mujahedeen Bangladesh
(JMB) from Patgram upazila in Lalmonirhat district in early hours of today.
“On a tip off, a special operational team of RAB-13 from its Rangpur
battalion headquarters conducted a raid at Saroa Bazar in Patgram upazila of
Lalmonirhat and arrested the JMB militant,” a press release said.
The arrested JMB operative is Shafikul Islam alias Alal, 37, son of Mokbul
Hossain of Rasulganj Moholla of Patgram municipality area in Lalmonirhat
district.
During primary interrogation, Alal admitted that he had been conducting
JMB’s organisational activities, colleting funds, purchasing arms and
planning for conducting subversive activities.
“The arrested militant also admitted that he was inspiring innocent youths
to become new members of JMB,” the release said, adding that efforts were on
to nab other members of the outfit militant organisation.
The elite force handed over the arrested militant to Patgram police station
in Lalmonirhat district after filing a case against him in this connection.
