Troops rescue 2,500 people stuck in northeast India due to snowfall
NEW DELHI, Dec 29, 2018 (BSS/Xinhua) – Over 2,500 people who were stuck on
the road due to heavy snowfall in northeast India were rescued by troops,
officials said Saturday.
The people, mostly tourists, were stuck in more than 400 vehicles.
They were provided food, shelter and medical care on Friday night, an
Indian army spokesman said.
Reports said the army has also provided heavy snow clearing machines to
restore movement of traffic on the road.
