5 dead in China coal mine accident
FUZHOU, Dec. 29,2018 (BSS/Xinhua) — Five miners were killed, while another one remained trapped in a coal mine accident in east China’s Fujian Province, local authorities said Saturday.
The accident occurred Friday at a coal mine in Yongding District in the city of Longyan, according to the district’s publicity department, without elaborating on what kind of accident it was.
At that time, nine people were working underground. Five have been confirmed dead, one injured, and another two were lifted to safety.
The search for the last trapped miner continued.
The coal mine owner has been in custody. An investigation into the cause of the accident is underway.
