Preparation complete for holding elections in Chapainawabganj
CHAPAINAWABGANJ, Dec 28, 2018 (BSS): Preparation has been completed to hold
the parliamentary election peacefully in Chapainawabganj district.
Candidates and their supporters conducted election campaign without any
hindrance or major incidences of violence.
There are three constituencies in the district and these are Chapainawabganj-
1 comprising Shibganj upazila, Chapainawabganj-2 comprising Nachole,
Gomostapur and Bholahat upazilas and Chapainawabganj-3 comprising sadar
upazila.
All preparations for holding free and fair elections have been completed in
all the three constituencies of Chapainawabganj.
A total of 13 candidates are contesting the 11th parliamentary polls in the
district. Among them four in Chapainawabganj-1(Shibganj) constituency, three
in Chapainawabganj-2 (Nachole, Gomostapur,Bholahat) constituency and six in
Chapainawabganj-3(Sadar)constituency.
In Chapainawabganj-1 (Shibganj), Dr. Samil Uddin Ahmad Shimul of Awami League
(AL), Md. Shahjahan Mia of BNP, Nurul Islam Jentu of BNF and Md. Monirul
Islam Moniur of Islami Shashantantra Andolon are contesting the polls.
In Chapainawabganj-2 (Nachole, Gomostapur, Bholahat), Md. Ziaur Rahman of AL,
Md. Aminul Islam of BNP and Md. Ibrahim Khalil of Islami Shashantantra
Andolon are contesting the polls.
In Chapainawabganj-3 (sadar), Md. Abdul Wadud of AL, Md. Harunur Rashid of
BNP, Md. Nurul Islam (Independent), Qamruzzaman Khan of BNF, Abdul Kader of
Islami Shashantantra Andolon and Md. Bablu Hossain (Independent) are
contesting the polls.
The polls will be held in 467 polling centres in which 158 centres in
Chapainawabganj-1, 159 centres in Chapainawabganj-2 and 150 centres in
Chapainawabganj-3 constituencies.
According to the Chapainawabganj district election office, in
Chapainawabganj-1, there are 4,15,988 voters among them 2,12,341 are male and
2,03,647 are female, in Chapainawabganj-2, there are 3,76,841 voters among
them 1,86,012 are male and 1,90,829 are female and in Chapainawabganj-3,there
are 3,82,474 voters among them 1,91,017 are male and 1,91457 are female
voters.
Meanwhile, the district returning officer has appointed 467 presiding
officers, 2,334 assistant presiding officers and 4,668 polling officers and
also imparted training to them.
