4 AL activists hurt in petrol bomb attack in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, Dec 25, 2018 (BSS) – Four Awami League (AL) activists were injured in a petrol bomb attack allegedly by BNP activists on a procession of the supporters of the AL candidate from Chattogram-4 constituency at Sitakunda of the district today.

The injured were identified as Mohammad Abu Salek alias Shamsuddin, Mohammad Saddam Hossain, Mohammad Raihan and Tayeb Uddin, said Assistant Sub-inspector Alauddin Talukdar of Chattogram Medical College Hospital Police outpost.

The incident occurred in the morning as AL and BNP activists brought out processions in Jhanabad area at the same time, according to Delwar Hossain, officer-in-charge of Sitakunda thana.

When the two processions reached Chairman ghata area, a petrol bomb was hurled targeting the procession of Awami League, leaving four people injured, the OC said.

Of them, three with burn injuries were being treated at Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH).

A chase and counter-chase took place between the activists of the two parties, leaving some 20 people injured.
