Mahbub urges polling officers to act neutrally

SYLHET, Dec 23, 2018 (BSS) – Election Commissioner Mahbub Talukder today
asked polling officials to discharge their duties neutrally treating all
candidates equally in the 11th parliamentary election slated for December 30.

“We never expect any bias approach from the officials who will discharge
election duties. We don’t come here to perform our duties in favor of or
against any person, group or party. All candidates are equal and identical to
us. So, I hope that you should perform your duties maintaining neutrality
strictly,” he said at a view-exchange meeting with polling officials and
members of law enforcement agencies here.

Terming the December as month the month of victory, Mahbub said the
country was liberated with the sacrifice of 30 lakh martyrs in 1971aimimg at
establishing democracy in the country.

“It will not be acceptable if we cannot hold a credible election after 47
years of independence,” he added.

Mentioning that the Armed Forces will be deployed across the country from
tomorrow, the election commissioner said there is no more expectation rather
ensuring safety of voters for casting their votes safely.

Sylhet Divisional Commissioner Mesbah Uddin Chowdhury, Deputy Inspector
General (DIG) of Sylhet Range Md Kamrul Ahsan, Metropolitan Police
Commissioner Md Gulam Kibria, returning officers of four districts of Sylhet
division and members of law enforcement agencies joined the meeting, among
others.
