Shakib emerges as highest wicket taker in BD-WI T20I series

DHAKA, Dec 23, 2018 (BSS)- It was once again a magnificent display by the
Tigers’ skipper Shakib Al Hasan when he showed his mettle in the shortest
format with ball as he emerged the highest wicket taker in the just concluded
Bangladesh-West Indies T20I series.

The ace allrounder Shakib grabbed eight wickets in three matches with an
impressive average of 11.12 with his maiden career best bowling figure of 5
for 20 in the second match. Rode on his five-wicket haul Bangladesh able to
fight back to level the series.

Shakib also emerged as the fourth highest runs scorer in the series making
103 runs with an impressive average of 51.50 including a match-winning half
century.

He also received the player of the series award for his brilliant
performance in all through the series.

West Indies opener Shai Hope emerged as the highest run scorer in the
series scoring 114 with an average of 38.00 including a half century.

Tigers’ opener Liton Das emerged as second highest run getter making 109
runs from three matches including a match-winning half century in the first
match with an average of 36.33.

Caribbean opener Evin Lewis become the third highest run maker in the
series scoring 108 from three matches including a blistering half century in
the series deciding third match with an average of 36.00 while West Indies
all-rounder Rovman Powell emerged as the fifth highest run scorer making 69
including a half century with an average of 34.50.

On the other hand, West Indies medium pacer Keemo Paul emerged as the
second highest wicket taker in the series picking up seven wickets in three
matches with an average of 13.14 with best bowling figure of 5 for 15 while
his fellow mate Sheldon Cottrell emerged as the third highest wicket-taker
also with seven wickets from three matches with an average of 13.85 with a
best bowling figure of 4/28 in the third match.

Tigers’ allrounder Mahmudullah become the fourth highest wicket taker in
the series taking five wickets with an average of 5.40 with his best bowling
figure of 3 for 18.

Bowling sensation Mustafizur Rahman emerged as the fifth highest wicket
taker also taking five wickets with an average of 19.60 with the best bowling
figure of 3/33 in the third match.

Bangladesh also scored their highest T20I total of 211 for 4 in their home
soil in the second match while West Indies scored their highest team’s total
of 190 in the third match of the series.

The Tigers although lost the T20I series to West Indies but they won the
Test and ODI series in style.
