Bangladesh-India ties on course of expansion: President

DHAKA, Jan 4, 2018 (BSS) – President M Abdul Hamid today said Bangladesh and India traditionally enjoy a close excellent bilateral ties and the relationship would further be deepened.

“The bilateral relation between Bangladesh and India is very excellent right now . . . this relationship is gradually increasing”, the President told India High Commissioner to Bangladesh Harsh Vardhan Shringla as the latter made a courtesy call on him at Bangabhaban this afternoon.

President’s Press Secretary M Joynal Abedin briefed the newsmen after the meeting.

President Hamid said trade and investment between the two countries are also increasing while the mutual understanding on different international and regional issues between the two neighbours is also very excellent.

The Indian High Commissioner handed over a “New Year Greeting Card” of Indian President Ram Nath Kovind to President Abdul Hamid.

Shringla said the Bangladesh-India ties deepened further due to direct links in roads and railways. The Indian HC said people of both the countries were yielding benefits with the expansion of trade and commerce.

Secretaries concerned to the President were present on the occasion.
