People pay tribute to Bani Kumar at Chattogram Shaheed Minar

CHATTOGRAM, Dec 21, 2018 (BSS) – People from all walks of life, including
literary and cultural activists and civil society members have presented
floral wreaths to pay their respect to famous music maestro and freedom
fighter Bani Kumar Chowdhury since his body was brought to Chattogram Central
Shaheed Minar today.

Chowdhury, a distinguished artiste of the then Swadhin Bangla Betar
Kendra, was given a guard of honour soon after his body was taken to the
Abhoy Mitra Crematory premises around 11am.

Bani Kumar, a composure, musician and music director, died of deadly
disease in the small hours of Friday at the age of 70, at his residence at PK
Sen Sathtola road in the city, family sources said.

Born in Boalkhali upazila of the district, Bani Kumar Chowdhury left
behind his wife, a son and large number of relatives and admirers to mourn
his death.

The mortal remains of late Bani Kumar Chowdhury was cremated at city’s
Abhoy Mitra Crematory this afternoon.

His music greatly inspired the freedom-loving people of Bangladesh in the
refugee camps of India in 1971.

Bangladesh Betar (Chattogram center), Khelaghar, Chattogram city, Udichi,
Bangladesh Television, (Chattogram centre), Zila Shilpakola Academy, Sangeet
Teertho, Sangeet Parishad, Sadaranga Ucchanga Sangeet Parishad and Sammilito
Abritti Jote, among others, placed wreaths at his mortal remains.
