Govt bans carrying of licensed arms till Jan 1
DHAKA, Dec 20, 2018 (BSS) – The government today imposed a ban on carrying and brandishing of all kinds of legal arms by their owners between December 21 and January 01 due to the 11th parliamentary election slated for December 30.
The Public Security Division of Home Ministry issued an order to this end in light with the directives of the Election Commission.
As per the order, actions will be taken against those who will not comply with the directive, it added.
However, the candidates contesting the 11th parliamentary elections, government officials and members of law enforcement agencies and security personnel working at different government, semi-government and non-government offices, financial and other institutions and establishments will not come under the purview of the directive.
Earlier, the EC gave directives to the Public Security Division for taking steps concerning the surrendering of all legal arms by their owners by December 24.
