Govt issues notice over using posters, leaflets

DHAKA, Dec 20, 2018 (BSS) – The government has issued a series of rules and
regulations for the political parties over using posters, leaflets and
handbills in conducting election campaign over the 11th parliamentary
election slated for December 30.

According to an official handout issued here today, the major rules and
regulations in line with the Section 7 of the ‘Code of Conduct for Political
Parties and Candidates in the Parliamentary Election-2008′ include no
candidate or any person on behalf of him/her will be allowed to past or hang
posters, leaflets and handbills on the walls, trees, fence, pillars of
electricity and telephone lines and transport such as buses, trucks and
ships.

The candidates will also not be allowed to past their posters, leaflets and
handbills on their rival candidates’ posters and distort or damage their
posters.

The posters of the candidates using for election campaign must be black
and white and size of the poster must be 60 centimeter x 45 centimeter and
banner’s size must be 3 meter x 1 meter.

As per the section 18 of the code of conduct, if any candidate or person on
behalf of him/her violates the rules and regulations before the poll, he or
she will be sentenced for up to six months or fined up to Taka 50,000 or
both.

But, if any registered political party violates the rules and regulations,
it will be fined up to Taka 50,000.
