DHAKA, Dec 20, 2018 (BSS) – The Election Commission (EC) has announced to
stop the voting of Gaibandha-3 (Palashbari-Sadullahpur) constituency due to
the death of Jatiya Oikyafront candidate Dr TIM Fazley Rabbi Chowdhury.
“A new date will be announced soon,” said the EC Secretary Helaluddin
Ahmed while talking to journalists at Nirbachan Bhaban in the city.
“As per the section 17 (1) of the Representation of Peoples Order (RPO),
voting in Gaibandha-3 is postponed. The returning officer, working there,
will inform the Commission along with the death certificate and the
Commissioners will take the necessary steps,” he said.
Dr TIM Fazle Rabbi Chowdhury, a BNP-led 20-party alliance candidate for
Gaibandha-3 constituency, passed away due to old-age complications at a city
hospital this morning.
