Preparation of police better than ever: IGP
DHAKA, Dec 20, 2018 (BSS) – Inspector General of Police (IGP) Javed Patwary today said the preparation of the police force is better than ever to undertake the responsibility centering the 11th parliamentary election.
“I hope that a good election will be held if the prevailing peaceful polls environment continues,” he told the reporters after a meeting with the election commissioners at the Nirbachan Bhaban in city’s Agargaon.
Patwary said, “We came here to inform the chief election commissioner and other commissioners about our planning. We informed them our latest situation and our own planning centering the upcoming polls.”
About an allegation of BNP and Jatiya Oikyafront that the police force is not under the EC, the top police official said this is an unrealistic comment by them. Not only police, but all other administrations are now under the control of the Election Commission, he added.
On another query, Patwary said the police force is taking actions against specific allegations. “We have already taken actions against some allegations,” he added.
Additional IGP Mokhlesur Rahman, Chief of Special Branch (SB) of Police Shahidul Islam, DMP Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mian, Chief of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime Unit of DMP Manirul Islam and Deputy Commissioner of Special Action Group Praloy Kumar Majumder, among others, were present during the meeting.
