RANGPUR, Dec 19, 2018 (BSS) – The Election Commission (EC) is working with
utmost sincerity to create a free and congenial environment for all voters
including females for casting votes across the country.

“We have completed almost everything and instructed members of the law
enforcement agencies to create an undisturbed environment for all voters,
including female voters,” Election Commissioner Rafiqul Islam said while
addressing a workshop today as the chief guest.

Rangpur Regional Election Office organised the workshop on “Awareness
Raising on Women’s Participation, Safety and Security in Elections” at Begum
Rokeya auditorium of RDRS Bangladesh in the city.

With Rangpur Regional Election Officer GM Shahatab Uddin in the chair,
Divisional Commissioner Muhammad Joynul Bari, Deputy Inspector General for
Rangpur Range Police Devdas Bhattacharya and Project Director of the Election
Commission Saiful Islam addressed the workshop.

Islam said the EC is maintaining toughness to create a congenial
environment for casting votes by all voters.

“Different groups may have various complaints. We are heading forward
considering all issues,” Islam said.

He said the electronic Voting Machines (EVM) are being used to stop vote-
rigging. There is no pressure of the government on the Election Commission
for all sorts of managements in the election process.

“All people in the administrations are assisting the Election Commission
during the election period. So far, the election environment is remaining
peaceful and congenial atmosphere prevailing for voting in all districts,”
Islam said.

The election officials also presented a short drama in the workshop styled
“Participation of Voters and Voting Ideas”.

Later, the participants took part in the open discussion session on the
possible obstacles, various types of threats and passageways of these issues.

Earlier, an awareness building procession was brought out on the city
streets to inspire the common people for participating in the election by
casting their votes in a festive atmosphere.
