Illegal handsets, network jammers seized, 11 arrested
DHAKA, Dec 19, 2018 (BSS) – Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory
Commission (BTRC) along with Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in a drive
recovered 293 illegal mobile handsets and 15 network jammers in city’s Baitul
Mukarram Market.
The joint team, led by BTRC Director Lt. Colonel M Aminul Haque and RAB
Executive Magistrate M Sarwar Alam, on Tuesday seized the unauthorized
handsets in different brands such as MI Redmi Note 5, MI Redmi Note 6A, MI
Redmi Note 6 Pro, Pocophone F1, Zenfone Max Pro, MI A2 along with 15 mobile
phone network jammers worth Taka 60 lakh, said a BTRC release today.
They also arrested 11 people for involving these illegal activities in
eight shops and the RAB Mobile Court sentenced them to different terms.
