AL President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today announced her party’s election manifesto at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel here ahead of the 11th parliamentary polls slated for December 30.

The manifesto focuses on 33 sectors to work under two strategic plans for making Bangladesh a hunger and poverty-free country, educated and secular nation to fulfill the dream of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and millions of martyrs.

In the manifesto, AL has set targets to increase the GDP growth to 10 percent in the next five years and create employment opportunities for 1.28 crore people during the period.

Former Vice Chancellor of the Dhaka University Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique said the manifesto is a document for implementing the country’s development goals.

“AL has declared the manifesto by taking experiences from their past. They are giving a whole scenario of ongoing development activities and future position of the country,” he added.

Through the manifesto, he said, Bangladesh will move forward to achieve the development goals.

Former Bangladesh Bank Governor Dr Atiur Rahman said the manifesto is time-befitting and comprehensive as AL is covering all present, past and future issues of the country’s development.

“The manifesto is forward looking and employment friendly. Through the manifesto, AL is providing a guideline for creating new entrepreneurs and employment opportunities,” he added.

Atiur said the manifesto will help achieve the higher and inclusive growth through ensuring transparency, integrity and technology friendly environment in all sectors of the country.
