DHAKA, Dec 18, 2018 (BSS) – Awami League (AL) President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today promised to provide free healthcare services to citizens over 65 and children under one-year.
“Children under one-year and citizens over 65 years will get free healthcare service,” she said while announcing her party’s election manifesto ahead of the 11th parliamentary polls slated for December 30.
The AL president also vowed to set up one medical university at each divisional city and modernize community clinic facilities including its buildings.
At present the rural people are getting healthcare service from nearly 16,500 community clinics across the country while 30 types of free medicines are also being distributed, she added.
Average life expectancy, she said, is increased to 72.8 years from 68.8 years in 2009.
