AL promises to continue zero tolerance against corruption, militancy

DHAKA, Dec 18, 2018 (BSS) – Awami League (AL) President and Prime Minister
Sheikh Hasina today promised to build more people’s friendly law enforcement
agency and continue its party’ zero tolerance policy against militancy, drug
and corruption.

“If voted to office, recruitment in law enforcement agencies, including
police, will be made in proportionate with the population of the country in
the next years,” she made the promise while announcing the party’s election
manifesto ahead of the 11th parliamentary polls slated for December 30.

She said to increase the capability of police force, various specialized
police units, including industrial police, PBI, Tourist Police, river police,
special security and protection battalion, Rangpur range, Rangpur RRF,
Mymensingh range, two RAB battalions, Cyber police, Gazipur and Rangpur
metropolitan police, Anti-terrorism unit and Counter terrorism and
transnational and crime unit, have been formed during the last ten years.

“Our campaign against militancy, drug and corruption will continue. We will
take zero tolerance policy against corruption,” she said.

The AL president said apart from strengthening the Anti-corruption
Commission (ACC), different steps will be taken to bring corruption to zero
level.

“Our firm stance to zero tolerance policy against militancy, communality,
terrorism and drugs will continue. Highest priority will be given in
uprooting terrorism, extortion and land grabbing,” she said.
