AL vows to constitute National Minority Commission

DHAKA, Dec 18, 2018 (BSS) – Awami League (AL) President Sheikh Hasina
today promised to constitute National Minority Commission and terminating all
kinds of laws and systems for discrimination towards minorities and ethnic
groups.

She made the promises while announcing the party’s election manifesto
ahead of the 11th parliamentary polls slated for December 30.

The AL president also vowed to take initiatives to implement those
sections of the CHT Peace Accord which have not yet been implemented.

Sheikh Hasina said the right of the original proprietors will be
reinstated in the land within the stipulated time.

She said, in the manifesto, all citizens will be guaranteed freedom of
religion as per the constitution.

The AL president said ‘The religion belongs to individual but the
festivals for all’- the policy will be upheld and Bangladesh will be built in
a non-communal spirit.

She said in order to preserve and develop non-communal and democratic
traditions of Bangalee culture, the policy and action plan followed by the
Awami League government will be continued.

“There will be no law against the Quraan and Sunnah and 560 mosque-cum-
Islamic Cultural Centers will be built across the country,” she said.
