Victory Day celebrated in Mymensingh
MYMENSINGH, Dec 16, 2018 (BSS) – The Victory Day was observed here today
with a call for building Sonar Bangla as dreamt by the Father of the Nation
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and also to build hunger and poverty free
prosperous country.
The people of the district are celebrating the Victory Day-2018 amid
colourful festivities paying rich tributes to the martyred of the liberation
war placing floral wreaths at the Muktijuddah Memorial at Patgodam area in
the city early morning.
To celebrate the day district administration chalked out elaborate
programmes. The days programme started with 31 gun salute at the memorial
with the rise of the sun.
Divisional Commissioner Mahmud Hasan, DIG Nebash Chandra Maji, DC Subash
Chandra Biswas, SP Shah Abed Hossain, Administrator of Pourashava Ekramul
Haque Teto, Zila Parisad chairman Yusuf Khan Pathan, President of district AL
Advocate Jahirul Haque, secretary Muazzem Hassain, AL City President
Eahtashemul Alam and leaders of Muktijuddah Sangsad placed wreaths at the
memorial.
Besides AL and its associate organizations, officials, different political
and Socio Cultural Professional organizations, teachers students paid tribute
to martyred by placing wreaths. National flags were hoisted atop government,
semi government private buildings, business centres, shops and educational
institutions.
A colourful march-past and displays were held at local stadium at 10 am.
Divisional Commissioner Mahmud Hassan hoisted National flag and took salute
of the march-past.
Police, Ansar, Scouts BNCC, girls guide, orphans, child organizations,
students of different schools and colleges participated the display.
Freedom fighters and relatives of martyred freedom fighters were accorded
receptions.
Special prayers were offered at all mosques and other places of religious
worships seeking divine peace for departed souls of the martyred sons and
daughters of the soil during the War of Liberation, progress and welfare of
the country.
