10 Shops fined TK 67,500 in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, Jan 3, 2018 (BSS) – Bangladesh Standard and Testing Institution (BSTI) fined a total of 10 shop-owners in the region Taka 67,500 in last month for selling and manufacturing adulterated food items.

BSTI regional office in association with respective district administration conducted seven mobile courts and found selling of substandard and unhygienic food items violating BSTI rules and regulations.

The court also realised Taka 67,500 from the shop owners during the drive.

Altab Hossain, Director of BSTI, here today said the regional office has stepped up its drives against the manufacturer of substandard and adulterated food items. Such drives will continue in the days to come for the greater interest of the people, he said.

The BSTI regional office also conducted 28 surveillance/squad drives for prevention of pilferage in weight and measurement and using of formalin in fruit and fish, the official added.
