Speaker urges electorates to vote for ‘Boat’

RANGPUR, Dec 13, 2018 (BSS) – Speaker of Jatiya Sangsad Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury today urged the electorates to vote for ‘Boat’, election symbol of Awami League, in the 11th parliamentary election to build a developed country free from hunger, poverty and discrimination.

She said this while making public contacts, talking to people and addressing streets corner rallies in many areas of Madankhali union in Pirganj upazila here during her day-long election campaigning in Rangpur-6 (Pirganj) constituency.

Hundreds of people gathered at more than 30 points of Madankhali union where Dr Shirin exchanged views with them and highlighted the massive development works implemented in the upazila as elsewhere in the country in last ten years.

Dwelling on the importance of every vote to bring the Awami League (AL)-led grand alliance to power for the third consecutive time through the 11th general election, she said more uplifts works would be done if people would cast their votes for ‘Boat.’

“Under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the country has achieved massive developments in every sector in last ten years attaining necessary criteria for graduation to a developing country by 2024 from the LDCs,” she said.

“AL always believes in the politics of development and turns its words into reality,” she said adding that Rangpur region has become free from the seasonal extreme poverty-like situation of ‘monga’ following massive uplifts implemented in last ten years.

“The AL-led grand alliance government under leadership of Sheikh Hasina will build a developed ‘Sonar Bangla’ in future free from hunger, poverty and discrimination as dreamt by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman,” she said.

Dr Shirin urged the people of Pirganj to vote for ‘Boat’ in the December 30 general election to implement more development projects in the upazila to turn Pirganj into a specially developed and model area in the country,”.

Acting President of Pirganj upazila AL Azizul Haque Ranga, its Organising Secretary Ruhul Amin, Upazila Chairman and AL leader Noor Mohammad Mandal, Senior Vice-president of District Awami League Chhayadat Hossain Bakul, Madankhali union Chairman Shamsul Alam, Upazila JASOD President Mir Mohammad Ali Manik and President of upazila Jatiya Party Nure Alam Jadu accompanied the Speaker.
