Public-private integrated initiatives stressed to ensure human rights
DHAKA, Dec 12, 2018 (BSS) – Experts at a meeting today said it is
important to have coordination between the rights activists and the
government to ensure human rights in the country.
The experts said these at a meeting titled ‘Multi Stakeholder Engagement
on UPR Outcome in Bangladesh’ in a city hotel, a press release said.
Article 19, a human rights organization, organized the event, which was
chaired by Faruq Faisel, Regional Director, South Asia of Article 19, while
NGO Affairs Bureau Director General of Prime Minister’s Office, KM Abdus
Salam was present as the chief guest.
Government officials, journalists and human rights activists were
participated in the meeting, among others.
“The declarations regarding human rights in the constitution of
Bangladesh are similar with the declaration of universal human rights of the
United Nations. Following this the government is working to implement the
rights,” KM Abdus Salam said.
