Bangladesh role model of socio-economic development: Amu

DHAKA, Dec 11, 2018 (BSS) – Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu today said Bangladesh has become a role model of socio-economic development under the prudent policies and dynamic leadership of the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

“Bangladesh is moving forward to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) after successfully implementation of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) in time. Industrial sector is playing a vital role to achieve the success,” he said.

The minister was speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural function of the three-day Bijoy Mela-2018 at the Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC) auditorium in the city, said a press release.

Industries Ministry organised the fair marking the Victory Day (Dec 16).

Amu said Bangladesh achieved remarkable success in the socio-economic development compared to the other neighbouring countries. “Per capita income increased to US$1751 in the fiscal 2018-19 which was $543 in the fiscal 2005-06,” he added.

Among others, Secretary-in-Charge of the Industries Ministry M Abdul Halim and BSCIC Chairman Mustak Hassan Md Iftekhar spoke on the occasion.
