GAIBANDHA, Dec 10, 2018 (BSS) – A two-day long training on Budget Cycle
Management for the union parishad (UP) chairmen ended at the training centre
of SKS Inn of Sadar upazila in the district on Sunday.
Bangladesh Rural Development Board (BRDB) organized the training under
SDC Local Governance Programme SHARIQUE (Ph iv) project being implemented by
BRDB and HELVETAS Swiss Intercooperation, Bangladesh.
Deputy Director of BRDB Abdus Sabur, Sadar upazila rural development
officer (RDO) M. Jahangir Alam, Gobindaganj RDO Enamul Haque, Palashbari RDO
Abdus Sabur Miah and national development capacity manager SHARIQUE-HELVETAS
programme Amir Uddin conducted the training sessions as the resources
persons.
Earlier, director general (DG) of BRDB and also additional secretary of
the government Muhammad Moududur Rahman Safdar formally inaugurated the
training as the chief guest and and senior team leader of sharique Programme,
Helvetas Swiss Intercooperation David William Morley was present at the event
as the special guest.
DG Muhammad Moududur Rahman urged the UP chairmen to apply the knowledge
acquired from the training to ensure the transparency and the accountability
of the accounts of the UP and make it more popular and acceptable to all as
well.
A total of 22 UP chairmen from seven upazilas of the district
participated in the training.
