Alliance partners to get 55-60 seats, final list tomorrow: Quader

DHAKA, Dec 07, 2018 (BSS) – Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader today said the final list of AL-led grand alliance candidates for 300 parliamentary seats would be announced tomorrow when it would be submitting to the Election Commission (EC).

“The final list of Awami League-led grand alliance candidates who got the nominations will be submitted to the Election Commission tomorrow and at that time the list will be published,” he told a press conference after handing over letters of nominations to the alliance partners at the AL president’s Dhanmondi political office here.

About seat sharing among partners, the AL general secretary said 55-60 seats have been given to the partners but there could be changes in one or two seats which will be finalized before the submission of the final list at the EC.

He said HM Ershad-led Jatiya Party, the biggest partner of AL in the grand alliance, have been given 40-42 seats, Workers Party got five seats, Hasanul Haq Inu-led Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal got three, JaSaD (Ambia) got one, Bangladesh Tarikat Federation (BTF) got two, Jukto Front three and Anwar Hossain Manju-led Jatiya Party (JP) two seats.

He said among the alliance partners, Jatiya Party (Ershad) will take part in the election with its election symbol “plough” and other partners will join the polls with the AL’s symbol “boat”.

Quader said Awami League finalized single candidates in those 17 seats where earlier it gave nominations to more than one candidates and the final candidates were also given letters.

AL Joint General Secretaries Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif and Jahangir Kabir Nanak, JASAD (Inu) General Secretary Shirin Akhter, Bangladesh Tarikat Federation Chairman Syed Nazibul Bashar Maizvandary, Bikalpa Dhara Bangladesh Secretary Major (Retd) Abdul Mannan, AL Information and Research Secretary Advocate Afjal Hossain, Relief and Social Welfare Secretary Sujit Roy Nandi, Forest and Environment Affairs Secretary Delwar Hossain and Deputy Publicity Secretary Aminul Islam Amin were present on the occasion.
