BPC to build international standard hotel in Barisal

DHAKA, Jan 02, 2018 (BSS) – Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation (BPC) is set to build an international standard modern hotel in Barisal to promote “Venice of Bengal” to the high-end domestic and interracial tourists.

The hotel will be constructed on the bank of Kittonkhola river in one acre land of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA).

To this effect, a MoU was signed yesterday between BPC and BIWTA at the conference room of Civil Aviation and Tourism Ministry at the secretariat.

BPC Chairman Akhtaruzzaman Khan Kabir and BIWTA Chairman Commodore M Mozammel Haque inked the MoU on behalf of their respective sides.

Civil aviation and tourism minister Rashed Khan Menon and Shipping minister Shahjahan Khan were present on the occasion.

Terming it as a New Year gift to the inhabitants of Barisal, Menon said the government has the plan to ensure all amenities at the hotel as per the five- star hotel standard.

He said the initiative will be a milestone for flourishing luxurious tourism at the southern part of the country including Barisal.
