Bangladesh elected as bureau member of ICC

DHAKA, Dec 06, 2018 (BSS) – Bangladesh has been elected as member of bureau
of International Criminal Court (ICC) for the next two years (2019-20) in the
17th session of the Assembly of State Parties to the Rome Statute, at The
Hague, Netherlands.

Starting on December 5, the assembly will end on December 12.

Bangladesh, South Korea and Japan have been elected for 2019 while
Bangladesh, South Korea and Palestine for 2020 as members of the Asia-Pacific
region.

‘Bureau’ ICC is the highest policy making body of 21 states out of 123
states. The ‘Bureau’ ICC has been entrusted with finalizing budget, electing
judges, prosecutors, deputy prosecutors and taking decision on election.
