Tk 947.16cr project being implemented by LGED in Khulna

KHULNA, Dec 4, 2018 (BSS) – Local Government Engineering Department
(LGED) has implemented development projects at a cost of around Tk 947.16
crore in nine upazilas of Khulna district in the last 10 years, according to
a publication of Khulna LGED titled ’10 years development’.

The upazilas are Rupsha, Paikgachha, Batiaghata, Fultala, Dakope,
Terokhada, Digholia, Dumuria and Koyra.

With a slogan, ‘Unnayaner Avijatray Adommo Bangladesh,’ LGED of Khulna
distributed the publication (information book) among the people from their
stall during Development Fair-2018 held on Khulna Circuit House premises.

The projects which were completed during 2009-2018 fiscal year are –
1183 km roads at a cost of Tk 442.28 crore, 325.0 km roads which were
maintained at a cost of Tk 126.19 crore, a total of 554 bridge and culvert of
around 2159 meter involving cost of Tk 85.04 crore, 22 upazila and union
parisad complex, 42 hut-bazar-ghat and 8 upazila server stations involving
cost Tk 31.68 crore, construction of 422 new primary schools, extension of
class room and construction of resource center of 57 primary schools and 76
cyclone centers involving cost Tk 225.44 crore, development of water
resources on 38.34 hectares of land at a cost of Tk 14.35 crore and
construction of Muktijoddha Complex and new residence for poor freedom
fighters at a cost of Tk 21.38 crore, the publication narrated.

Currently, construction works which are being implemented include –
197.028 km roads and roads for maintaining are 54.75 km, 925.70 meter bridge
and culvert, 4 union parisad complex and 6 hut-bazar, 56 primary schools and
10 cyclone centers, three Muktijoddha complex and 7 residence for freedom
fighters.

When contacted Rakibul Alam, executive engineer of Khulna LGED said
around 16 running projects involving cost of Tk 199.01 crore will be
completed in the current fiscal year.

Terming the LGED as a pioneer development project implementing entity at
present, he said at least 10 goals out of 17 sustainable development goals
(SDGs) are connected to LGED’s activities.

Now, the country is on the highway of development and LGED is playing a
vital role in taking the nation forward, he added.
